SERVE ONLY GOD: FOURTH PROTOCOL OF THE TRUE WORSHIPER

As we approach the holiday seasons, we start to prepare for various gatherings with family and friends.

As a host you might end up not only preparing the meals, but also serving.

I remember as a child when we hosted such gatherings my mother reminded us that it was important that every guest was properly served. Serving the food required ensuring that the guests got the meals that wanted at the appropriate temperature and with necessary utensils and accompanying beverage or water.

Many times if we were unable to eat before the party started, there might not even be enough time to eat until all the guests have left.

I remember an occasion when, all I wanted to do after all the guests had left was to just soak my feet in cool water.

Serving is work, hard work.

Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Jesus tells us that we are to worship The Lord our God and serve Only The Lord.

We cannot worship without serving and we cannot serve without genuinely worshiping God.

So let us as ourselves some questions;

What does a server or waiter do?

A waiter waits upon other guests.

A waiter takes the orders of the guests and gets them exactly what they asked for.

A waiter is always around the guests constantly monitoring the table to see what need to be refilled on the tables.

A waiter is always asking the guests questions: What would you like to order? Is the meal satisfactory? What else can I get for you?

A waiter while performing his duties does what the person he is waiting on requires.

A waiter pays attention to the guests.

What does a waiter not do?

He doesn’t serve the guests food or drinks they didn’t ask for.

He doesn’t get distracted.

As the waiter waits on and attends to the guests so we are to wait on and attend to The Lord Our God by studying His word, written in the bible and by prayer and thanksgiving.

When we come into His presence, do we come with our waiter’s uniform?

Do we bring a pen and note pad?

Do we have listening ears and ask questions such as:

What would you like me to do for you today Lord?

How can I help advance the Kingdom of God?

What can I pray about in the kingdom of God?

What Kingdom business is of utmost importance and how can I be of assistance today?

This is part of our worship.

Take some time now from your busy schedule and imagine the Lord seated on the throne of grace and you coming into His presence. How would you approach Him?  Will you come into His presence with joy, peace, singing and thanksgiving or with complaining, anger and a bad attitude?

Know that every time you choose to look to the Lord’s interest when you are in His presence instead of just venting about the ‘many problems you have,’ you are making a choice to truly worship and serve The Lord.

Are you ready to Worship and Serve as a True worshiper?

This is your call to Worship The Lord Your God, with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.

Will you answer the call?
