HOW SWEET ARE GOD’S WORDS TO YOUR TASTE?

Psalm 119: 103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

How sweet are your words oh Lord

104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

When you hear the word – Honey, what comes to your mind?

The sweetness of honey?

The memories of happy times with family and friends enjoying honey in the various food we eat?

Now, what comes to your mind when someone mentions – The Word of God?

The goodness of God? The mercy of God? The love of God?

Would you choose the word of God first?

Take some time to answer to yourself the question below. It’s not a trick question, but it might reveal some aspect of the contents of your heart to you.

If I put a pot of honey and the bible – The word of God on a table, which one will you choose first?

In Psalm 119 verse 103 the Psalmist tells us his choice. The Psalmist declares that the word of God is sweeter to the taste than honey to the mouth. That is a big bold statement.

The Psalmist chooses the word of God over the sweetness of honey.

We are to love the word of God and desire the word of God more than we desire the sweetness of honey, more than we desire our natural food.

We are to pant after the word of God with all our hearts and hunger for more and more of God’s word daily.

How I love thy law with all my heart

Why should we do this?

The Psalmist declares that God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.

The word of God is Truth, it is pure, and it gives understanding to the mind.

God’s word upholds and sustains us. The word of God is our daily bread.

The word of God instructs us, corrects us, directs us, redirects us, leads us.

The word of God is life unto us.

Have you decided to live your life according to what the word of God says?

Have you made the word of God the final authority in your life?

In the song titled – Thy Word, one of the songs from my upcoming album; ‘With All My Heart’ I sing about the benefits of seeking the word of God with all our hearts. Psalm 119 is the foundational scripture for this song. Take some time to read that psalm and recommit to making decisions about your life based on the foundation of the written and revealed word of God to you.

When you make the decision to honor God’s word, God will honor you.
