“Go and love God.”
The words spoken to me with such clarity, boldness, and compassion landed first in my ears and then proceeded to settle in my heart.
I was not expecting this response from my mentor.
I had sought out her counsel because she was the leader of the small groups that I was in, in the church attended at that time and she was also a woman that exuded so much wisdom in her decision making as a leader.
After graduating from college, I move back to the city where my parents lived and started attending a new church, not long after that, I was impressed in my heart to join the choir. Everything seemed to be going great unto God gave me a huge redirection in my life that left me puzzled and perplexed. After obeying God’s instructions, I was still struggling in my mind and my emotions, it was in this frame of mind that I reached out to my mentor and requested a time of counsel with her. After listening to me ramble on and on for a good amount of time her response to me was an instruction.
She said, “Go and love God.”
In my head, I thought, what in the world am I supposed to do with that?
What does that even mean?

As I walked away, I had a decision to make. I could dismiss her instruction, or I could obey the instruction.
I chose to obey the instruction.
In obeying the instruction, I had to first ask myself some questions,
How can I show God that I love him?
What does God like for me to do to demonstrate that I love him?
How can I express my love for God?
You see, to love someone you must love them, the way they want to be loved.
So how does God want to be loved?
How does God want me to love Him?
After thinking it through for some time I concluded from what I know about God and from scriptures, that the way God wants to be loved is by my coming into his presence and praising him, worshipping him and thanking him. So, I allocated a special time every day to praise, worship and thank God. I decided I would no longer allocate that time to worry and to fretting, I changed what I did first with my mind, that is with my thoughts, and then with my actions that is my words.
God is a King and every King has certain protocols that the subject in the kingdom most follow when they show up before the King. In the courts of heaven, praise, worship, and thanksgiving are the protocols for entrance before The Father. If you want access to the King of Kings, to The Lord of Lords, to the creator of the ends of the earth, you must follow the protocols. If you want relationship and fellowship with the king, you must obey the instructions, grumbling and complaining is not part of the protocols of entrance into the presence of God.
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 7:11-12 KJV

As I constantly, worshipped, praised and thanked The Lord, all the confusion, perplexing situations and fear just went away and new beautiful blessings from God came to me, as God brought clarity and great joy into my life.
Are you confused today?
Are some things making you perplexed?
Please permit me to say to you what was said to me years ago, “Go and love God”
Today, as we celebrate this national Thanksgiving Day, don’t just spend time with family and friends enjoying yummy meals, go and love The Lord, allocate quality time to get before God’s throne and praise, worship and thank God.

In fact, I sense The Lord saying to us that it’s time to make it a lifestyle, a way of living, put it on your calendar, in your planner, on your to do list, make it priority and as you constantly offer sacrifices of praise to God, you will be granted access to The Father because you are coming with the right protocols. You will love God the way God wants to be loved, and the goodness of God will automatically show up in your life.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 100:3-5 KJV
